❝ Once upon a time... lamia’s story starts in the dreadful town of hollow pines where she was born on january 15, her parents being lower middle class. hollow pines was filled to the brim with odd people who did odd things. she stayed mostly to herself, always being the shy type; growing up with two mothers subjected her to severe bullying that spanned through her entire life.experiment 890; one of the first few people to be subjected to the infection named   𝓝ecrothallus   𝓢yndrome. lamia had been offered lots of money to take a few tests for the hollow pines doctors office; something she had agreed to thinking it would be harmless. she had been lied to & forced to be a lab experiment for people who didn’t live up to their end of the deal the infection only seemed to get worse from there. she spent most of her time hiding away, trying to make herself seem less like the freak she was. experiment 890 is in stage two of the infection; her vocal cords slowly starting to deteriorate which causes her speech to be broken. she is currently alive.. wandering aimlessly around the apocalyptic wasteland that is now her home.

hollow pines, a once-thriving small town, now overtaken by decay & wilderness. unlike the mindless undead that shuffle through the ruins, lamia still has small fragments of her humanity–memories that seemed to haunt her in the middle of the night. paranoia & hallucinations that make her question her sanity & what’s real or isn’t real. her pale, weather skin & dark eyes betray her undead nature, but her movements are always deliberate, a contrast to the chaos around her.she keeps to herself, haunted by vague memories of her past life. the hallucinations of her family & friends seem to be everywhere she turned. echoes of her mothers’ voices seem to cling to her like second skin; the sight of her older brother, kayo, fills up her memories of when they had been children. she struggles to figure out if she was meant to be truly dead or if this undead life of hers was meant to be how she spent the rest of her days on earth. she deserved this; deserved this torment & loneliness. after all, she had agreed to become a lab experiment for hollow pines’ lab department.

▍ ❝   I.
_***   𝓝ecrothallus   𝓢yndrome. a rare & insidious infection caused by a parasitic fungal-bacterial hybrid; mycobacterium necrothallum. the organism thrives by hijacking its host’s nervous & circulatory systems, effectively transforming the infected into a semi-conscious, aggressive state. the syndrome is named for the distinctive ‘necrothalli’ or blackened, vein-like fungal growth that emerges on the skin & pulse with eerie bioluminescence in low light.       ❛ the lab did this.. they were trying to ruin us! why doesn’t anybody understand that!? ❜

▍ ❝   II.
𝓢tages of   𝓘nfection.
〤 incubation. ( stage one )
takes one to three days.
symptoms mimic severe flu — fever, chills, joint pain, & fatigue. faint black veins appear under the skin, particularly near wounds or points of contact.〤 neurological takeover. ( stage two )
takes four to seven days.
parasite spreads to the brain — causes hallucination, paranoia & heightened aggression. the infected begin to lose their sense of identity & exhibit predatory behavior.
speech becomes garbled & motor control becomes jerky yet unnervingly strong.〤 full necrotic conversion. ( final stage)
takes eight or more days.
the host's body is overtaken by necrothalli — the host gets rendered immune to pain & decay. eyes become black & the infected develop heightened sense of smell & hearing; vocal cords become damaged & unusable. they no longer require sustenance other than raw flesh, which fuels the parasite’s growth.

〜 there is no cure for necrothallus syndrome.
early-stage infection may be slowed with antifungal & antibiotic treatments, but the neurological damage is irreversible.

▍ ❝   VERSE ONE : MODERN.
modern verse has lamia more laid back & less hostile. she spends more of her time with her best friends rather than anyone else really has a girly style. in the modern verse, she is a librarian / cafe owner who never signed up to be a lab experiment. the library / cafe she works at is quite popular with people around her.

▍ ❝   VERSE TWO: POPSTAR / BAND
popstar / band verse has lamia shy & not much of a fan of the spot light. her style is a little bit more coquette while having a bit of skater girl. in the popstar / band verse, she is a popstar who has many number one hits though, she is not a big fan of the fame & attention she gets from people, wanting to stay in the shadows.

▍ ❝   VERSE THREE : fantasy
fantasy verse has lamia in more of her normal apocalypse verse state; always seemingly on alert & worried about everything. her style being consistent to the her girly style in the fantasy verse, she spends most of the time hiding away & reading books in the huge castle she lives in. she is a princess.
